However, President Emmanuel Macron has now announced in a TV address that he intends to remain in office. The uncertainties could continue to occupy market participants in the new trading week.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>US manufacturing sector weakens - ADP data signal weaker US job market<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On Monday, the ISM index for the manufacturing industry came in slightly better than expected at 48.40 points (47.50 points), compared to 46.50 points in the previous month. However, the index is still below the growth threshold of 50 points.<\/p>\n<p>While Tuesday's data was less relevant, Wednesday's ADP data provided a first taste of today's US labor market data. The private service provider Automatic Data Processing (ADP) signaled non-farm job growth of 146,000 units, following 150,000 new jobs in October.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the ISM index for the non-manufacturing sector fell well short of expectations, although at 56 points it is still above the expansion threshold of 50 units.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Fed could take further time with interest rate cuts - investors hope for rate cut on 18.12.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Jerome Powell also attracted attention late on Wednesday evening. However, the Fed Chairman merely repeated the familiar and stated that the monetary watchdog could take its time with interest rate cuts in view of the solid economic development and uncertain, shaky inflation prospects.<br \/>His colleague Alberto Musalem from the Fed's St. Louis branch, on the other hand, warned against cutting interest rates too early and too sharply. Market participants are currently betting on a rate cut of a quarter of a percentage point at the final meeting of the year (December 18).<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest data, retailers in the eurozone recorded their first decline in October since June.
