Trump recently put a 90-day pause on numerous tariffs on hold. Over the weekend, it became public that smartphones and computers from China would also be exempt from tariffs. Only a short time later, however, the US President rowed back, which caused a great deal of confusion. The back and forth in the tariff dispute is unlikely to reduce the existing uncertainty surrounding the impact on the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the news that chip manufacturer Nvidia was heading for high costs due to restrictions on exports of the H20 chip model to China also caused unrest, which could be interpreted as a warning signal to the market.<\/p>\n<p>In the US, the focus will be on US retail sales from 14:30. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell could give monetary policy hints from 19:30.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>European Central Bank meets on Thursday - focus on Lagarde rhetoric<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On Thursday, investors are likely to focus their attention on the ECB's key interest rate decision (14:15) and the subsequent press conference with Christine Lagarde.<\/p>\n<p>The ECB may once again turn the interest rate screws downwards. A rate cut of 25 basis points is expected, meaning that the main refinancing rate could be 2.40 percent and the deposit facility 2.25 percent.<\/p>\n<p>It will also be interesting to see whether the ECB makes any statements on the current events regarding the trade dispute.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>US reporting season could provide additional impetus on Thursday - stock exchanges remain closed on Good Friday due to the holiday <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On Thursday, one day before Good Friday, the US reporting season will focus on the figures from American Express and Netflix, which could also be of interest here in Germany.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For DAX investors, developments in the trade dispute in particular are likely to remain the key issue.
