In addition to the publication of new purchasing managers, attention is likely to focus on new details regarding the trade dispute, as in previous weeks. It remains to be seen whether the recent downgrade of the US credit rating by the rating agency Moody's will cause uncertainty.

Investors should hope for further signs of easing in the trade dispute

A week ago, the USA and China announced their intention to temporarily reduce the tariffs imposed on each other by 115 percentage points each for 90 days in the trade dispute. While the US reduced the tariff rate for imported goods from China from 145% to 30%, Beijing's surcharges on imports from the US fell from 125% to 10%. Investors should now be hoping for further constructive talks between the US and important trading partners such as the EU. A trade deal had already been reached with the UK and the US the week before.

Partly due to the increase in government debt - USA loses Moody's top rating

The United States has had to relinquish its top rating from the rating agency Moody's. The credit rating is now only "Aa1", down from "Aaa". One reason for the decision is the increase in national debt. Washington had reacted with great criticism to the downgrade. In previous years, S&P and Fitch had already withdrawn the top rating from the largest economy.

Focus on China data at the start of the week - numerous Fed representatives in view

In the night from Sunday to Monday (04:00), Chinese economic data on retail sales and industrial production may provide important guidance for trading.

Speeches are scheduled in the afternoon by Fed representatives Raphael Bostic (Atlanta, 2:30 p.m.), John Williams (New York, 2:45 p.m.), Philip Jefferson (Fed Vice Chair, 2:45 p.m.), Lorie Logan (Dallas, 7:45 p.m.) and Neel Kashkari (Minneapolis, 7:30 p.m.).

On Tuesday, investors will also have to deal with scheduled speeches by Raphael Bostic (3:00 p.m.), Alberto Musalem (St. Louis, 7:00 p.m.) and Adriana Kugler (11:00 p.m.).

US initial jobless claims and purchasing managers ahead on Thursday

On Thursday, the focus usually shifts to US initial jobless claims (14:30). The S&P Global Purchasing Managers are also likely to attract interest (15:45). The index is published for the service and overall sectors.

Dow Jones Industrial Average Index

Source: TradingView

In the coming trading days, investors can expect numerous monetary policy stimuli from various Fed representatives.
