Once again, the focus is likely to be on Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, who is expected to provide monetary policy guidance at the subsequent FOMC press conference. In the run-up to the event, however, it is important to keep an eye on important economic data first.<\/p>\n

\u201eJOLTs\u201c in focus on Tuesday - investors betting on interest rate cut on Wednesday<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The so-called \u201eJOLTs\u201c (Jop Openings and Labor Turnover Survney) could provide important information about the current situation on the US labour market on Tuesday (16:00). Last Friday, the official US jobs data (non-farm payrolls) was not published. Due to the US budget dispute, which has since been resolved, there are still delays in some economic data.
\nThe publication of the NRPs for October and November is scheduled for December 16.<\/p>\n

Last Wednesday's ADP employment data was worse than economists had expected in advance. The disappointing report may have led to a new interest rate cut fantasy in the United States.<\/p>\n

Consequently, Wednesday is likely to be dominated by the highly anticipated Fed meeting. The key interest rate decision is expected at 20:00 and the press conference with Jerome Powell at 20:30. According to the CME Group's \u201eFed Watch Tool\u201c, 89.6% of market participants now expect a rate cut of a quarter of a percentage point next Wednesday. In contrast, there is a 10.40 percent probability of a pause in interest rates. On January 28 and March 18, 2026, the Fed is scheduled to decide on the future interest rate level in the new year.<\/p>\n

With the US producer price data, important economic data is also on the agenda on Thursday (14:30).<\/p>\n

The weekly initial claims for US unemployment benefits should also be watched closely due to the lack of \u201eNFPs\u201c. Investors are likely to scrutinize all economic data in view of the poor data situation.<\/p>\n
