Despite concerns about a possible escalation of tensions between Iran and the US, investors have ventured to the sidelines in recent trading days. Investors were also able to put aside fears of an escalation of the US tariff dispute for the time being. As expected, the publication of NVIDIA's new quarterly figures caused quite a stir.<\/p>\n

Investors initially shake off concerns about US tariff dispute<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A week ago, the US Supreme Court ruled that US President Donald Trump overstepped his authority after he invoked an emergency law to impose numerous tariffs on trading partners. Immediately after the ruling, Trump announced a blanket tariff of 10 percent on imports into the US. A few hours later, this was increased to 15 percent. In doing so, he invoked a trade law from 1974, which allows tariffs to be imposed on imports for up to 150 days.<\/p>\n

Further round of negotiations possible on Monday - fear of military escalation remains<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Badr al-Bussaidi, Oman's foreign minister, spoke of \u201esignificant progress\u201c after the negotiations on X on Thursday. \u201eWe will meet again soon after consultations in the respective capitals,\u201c he said. Talks at a technical level are planned for next week in Vienna.<\/p>\n

The Iranian nuclear program, which is considered controversial, is still likely to be at issue. The USA wants to put a stop to the Iranian leadership developing nuclear weapons. On the other side, Tehran denies such intentions. However, it is already showing signs of limiting its nuclear program. In return, however, the lifting of economic sanctions would be demanded.<\/p>\n

Ifo index expected to be better - GfK consumer confidence disappoints expectations<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At the beginning of the week, it was the ifo business climate index that kept investors busy. At 88.6 points, it exceeded the estimates made in advance (88.4 points) and the previous month's figure (87.6 points).<\/p>\n

At minus 24.7 points, GfK consumer confidence was weaker than expected (23.1 points), after -24.2 points in the previous month.<\/p>\n

Focus on inflation data in Germany - US producer prices could provide monetary policy impetus<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This afternoon, preliminary inflation data for the Federal Republic of Germany (14:00) and US producer prices (14:30) are also on the agenda.<\/p>\n

NVIDIA posts record results - concerns about competition from China<\/strong><\/h2>\n

AI chip manufacturer NVIDIA (ISIN: US67066G1040) presented record results for the past quarter and once again exceeded Wall Street's expectations. However, concerns about growing competition from China weighed on sentiment.
\nIn the last quarter of the past financial year 2025\/26 (as at the end of January), net profit rose to 42.9 billion dollars compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Turnover climbed by 73% to 68.1 billion dollars.
\nAccording to CFO Collette Kress, sales of 78 billion US dollars are expected for the current quarter.<\/p>\n
