by Marcus Schulz is a mixture of a fictional novel and a financial book. An unusual attempt that also attracted me because of the exciting setting of the fascinating world of New York in the 1920s. A time characterized by Prohibition, the booming stock market and the hypnotic rhythm of the Charleston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is more than just a fictional historical novel. Rather, a kind of hero's journey has been knitted around the main protagonist, Jimmy. The young trader fights against his past to reinvent himself and his family. He is intended to inspire readers on their very own journey.<\/p>\n\n\n

Jimmy undergoes a transformation in just under 200 pages: from an average employee trapped in his everyday life, he becomes a fearless trader who conquers Wall Street. In the process, he meets various mentors, experiences triumph and defeat and repeatedly wrestles with his own identity. However, this personal struggle is not only reflected in the highs and lows of trading. It is also reflected in the New York environment of the time, in a world in the throes of economic boom and social change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcus Schulz also tries to use this story to teach his readers the basics of trading. At the same time, he also wants to provide deep insights into the psychology behind successful investments. His readers not only experience the challenges and opportunities of the 1920s through Jimmy's eyes. They also receive timeless lessons on how to reinvent themselves and pursue their dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, this rather rare approach to a financial book would actually have enormous potential. Unfortunately, the author doesn't really succeed in capturing the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties. The wild fluctuations on the stock market and the forbidden speakeasy bars actually form the perfect, colorful backdrop for Jimmy's personal journey. But neither linguistically nor structurally can this book match the narrative style of a really good novel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was certainly a tightrope walk for the author between non-fiction and novel. Unfortunately, the book doesn't really convince me in either area. The novel part in particular falls far short of comparable works. But I would also give the non-fiction part a \"good\" at most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a really good idea to use this era not only as a historical setting. It was also a metaphor for the unpredictable nature of the markets and the opportunities they offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, I took the normal route: Average school leaving certificate, three years of training and then ten years as an employee living from weekend to weekend, as work was simply the means to an end - earning money to make ends meet.\"<\/em> <\/p>\nMarcus Schulz<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

At this point a few words about the author:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcus Schulz is the founder of Volume-Trader, a trading community in German-speaking countries. Since it was founded in 2017, it has grown to over 5,000 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn't just want to provide information, I wanted to tell an inspiring story made up of the many experiences I have gained on my own path to becoming a successful trader. At first glance, you might think this is a biography of a New York trader from the 1920s. At least that's what the cover suggests. Ultimately, however, it is a fictional story that has been deliberately constructed to provide tips and tricks about trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1920s in New York, which have already been mentioned, serve as the backdrop. Certainly a period with many exciting stories and thematically quite fitting.<\/p>\n\n\n

As always, the hardcover binding is well done by Finanzbuchverlag. However, 25.00 euros for just under 200 pages is definitely not a bargain. Especially as the inside of the book is surprisingly designed. The line spacing is abnormally large. Many large, sometimes double-page sketches liven up the book, but sometimes they look more like an old comic than a non-fiction book. This reduces the content to perhaps 120 standard pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be honest, I found it a bit thin. In the case of a financial book that is already narrated like a novel, you can certainly imagine that the gain in knowledge is more than limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the reader is offered here above all is a thoroughly interesting story and a brief outline of some wisdom. However, these can be found much better explained in both breadth and depth in countless other works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it remains a solid and sometimes entertaining book, but unfortunately not a really good one that I could really recommend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The True Trader<\/em> would ultimately have had significantly more potential as a design than was ultimately realized in practice. Nevertheless, it may be worth a look. However, it is neither a particularly good non-fiction book nor a particularly successful novel. Neither the narrative style nor the storylines can keep up with comparable works of fiction. And the knowledge gained from the non-fiction part is also quite limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a layout that takes some getting used to and a surprisingly high price, it is not on my list of really good financial books.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
