by Daniel Pecaut & Corey Wrenn is a well-sounding title that I was really looking forward to. Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger are probably not only for me absolute luminaries in their field and cover and start of the book promise great things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warren Buffett is probably the best-known investor in the world. When he buys a stock, many out there see it as a strong buy signal, and they follow his instinct. Millions of investors rely on his intuition year after year.<\/p>\n\n\n

Every year, he invites his right-hand man Charlie Munger, another gifted investor, to the annual general meeting of Berkshire Hathaway in the small Nebraska town of Omaha. There, in front of tens of thousands of financial enthusiasts, the two explain their investment decisions, comment on the global economic situation and provide intimate insights into their very special way of thinking, which has made Buffett the greatest investor of all time. For many investors, Omaha is comparable to Mecca and the Annual General Meeting to Kaba. To attend such an event once is the great desire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two authors of this book were regularly present at these meetings and diligently wrote for us. In over 20 years of general meetings, this work full of wisdom has now come into being. Anyone who has ever wanted to be at one of these legendary general meetings now has the opportunity to take away a lot, at least in terms of content. Even if the feeling of the live experience is missing, of course. In addition, the two authors give their personal touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book is called UNIVERSITY OF BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY because the authors set out to learn from the best. So their curriculum consisted of Berkshire Hathaway's annual reports, speeches, and annual meeting. Once home, they then took their notes and used them to create detailed summaries of the meetings for their clients. These meetings form the basis of this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefit of these gatherings is that Buffett and Munger provide deep insights into how they operate and make decisions away from the mainstream news.<\/p>\n\n\n

In this book, readers can expect not investment theories, but rather a collection of advice, insights and assessments that Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger have shared with us over the past decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, it is chronologically and simply structured. As a reader, each chapter begins with a new of the total of 20 annual general meetings, and this is also my deepest point of criticism. Because this duplicates a lot of information and the book loses its liveliness. The common thread is the timeline and less the content statements. This leads to fragmented bits and pieces, which is not always pleasant to read smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is definitely not for beginners. Rather, it is only of value to well-informed investors, because only they will be able to appreciate how important it is to grasp their way of thinking. However, to be able to do that fully, the book lacks a bit of depth for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, this book is not a guidebook. Rather, it addresses the core question, \"Why do they do what they do?\" The answer is spread throughout the pages of this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, it is a thoroughly interesting book for Buffett and Munger fans with some very exciting passages. However, it could have been more vividly worded and illustrated. Thus, it is not a must read for me, but will certainly not hurt and offers the opportunity to feel a little Omaha air.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
