Week in review DAX 40 and Wall Street: US inflation fuels interest rate cut fantasies - Dow Jones cracks 40,000 points

Die vergangenen vier Handelstage dürften ganz nach dem Geschmack der Anleger gewesen sein. Während der DAX 40 nur knapp die 19.000-Punkte-Marke verfehlte, konnte der Dow Jones Industrial Average Index erstmals in seiner Geschichte die 40.000er-Marke knacken. Rückenwind erhielten die Leitindizes insbesondere durch einen nachlassenden Inflationsdruck in den USA.
Am heutigen Freitag könnten neue Preisdaten für die Eurozone bewegen.

Anleger schütteln Sorgen wegen Erzeugerpreisinflation rasch ab – Fed-Vertreter bringen keine neuen Erkenntnisse

Für Investoren könnte eine durchaus positive Handelswoche zu Ende gehen. In der ersten Wochenhälfte waren es zwischenzeitlich geldpolitische Impulse durch die sogenannten US-Erzeugerpreise, welche allerdings nur kurzzeitig für Belastungspotenzial sorgten. Im April legte die Erzeugerpreisinflation gegenüber dem Vormonat stärker zu als gedacht (0,3 Prozent).

Nicht wirklich neue Erkenntnisse brachte indes eine Rede durch Fed-Chef Jerome Powell hervor. "Das erste Quartal in den Vereinigten Staaten war bemerkenswert für das Fehlen von weiteren Fortschritten bei der Inflationsentwicklung", hieß es am Dienstag bei einer Veranstaltung der Foreign Bankers' Association in Amsterdam. "Wir haben nicht erwartet, dass dies ein glatter Weg sein würde, aber die Inflationsraten waren höher als, wie ich glaube, jeder erwartet hat."

Die finalen Inflationsraten hierzulande lagen wie erwartet bei 2,2 Prozent nach ebenfalls 2,2 Prozent im März (gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat).

US-Inflation fällt in den USA zurück – Anleger hoffen auf Zinswende in den USA

Den entscheidenden Funken für den Beginn der Kursrallye brachten jedoch die US-Inflationsdaten zur Wochenmitte. Die für die Fed als Richtschnur angesehene Kernrate der Teuerung legte im April gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat um 3,6 Prozent zu und damit weniger stark im Vergleich zum März (3,8 Prozent).

Indes enttäuschten die US-Einzelhandelsumsätze die Erwartungen, was Anleger als möglichen Hinweis auf eine weitere Abkühlung der US-Wirtschaft deuteten.

Auch die Entwicklung der Industrieproduktion der Unternehmen signalisierte am Donnerstag eine Schwäche der größten Volkswirtschaft der Welt.
Angesichts der wieder an Fahrt aufnehmenden Zinssenkungsfantasien konnte der Dow Jones erstmals in seiner Geschichte über die 40.000-Punkte-Marke steigen.

EU-Inflation und Fed-Vertreter am Freitag im Blick – Berichtssaison mit gemischten Signalen

Am heutigen Freitag blicken Anleger um 11:00 Uhr auf die finalen Kern-Inflationsraten für die Eurozone, welche im April gegenüber dem Vorjahresmonat an Schwung verloren haben dürften (2,9 Prozent vs. 2,7 Prozent).

Eine Rede durch Fed-Mitglied Waller könnte um 16:15 Uhr geldpolitische Signale liefern.

In den vergangenen Tagen kamen immer wieder diverse Vertreter der Fed-Notenbank zu Wort. So hatte sich der Fed-Vize-Chef Philip Jefferson zu Wochenbeginn dafür ausgesprochen, solange an der straffen Zinspolitik festzuhalten, bis sich die Inflation gen Zwei-Prozent-Ziel bewege.

Auch die Berichtssaison hielt Anleger in dieser Woche auf Trab. So konnten die Quartalszahlen der Deutschen Telekom nicht wirklich überzeugen. Auch die Titel von Siemens gaben am Donnerstag deutlich nach, nachdem Aktionäre nach durchwachsenen Ergebnissen Kasse machten.
Zur Wochenmitte konnten die Zahlen der Commerzbank hingegen glänzen. Das Geldinstitut habe im ersten Quartal von einem starken Zinsüberschuss profitieren können, hieß es.
