No other book captures the essence of my personal conviction regarding investing better than SIMPLE SUCCESSFUL INVESTING by Jessica Schwarzer. My admiration for the author began years ago with this book and her other works found their way onto my bookshelf. Jessica Schwarzer is for me still the only really competent financial woman in the shelf of stock market literature. She is characterized above all by her pragmatic, but at the same time scientific approach. With her, we don't find "do it yourself" knowledge, but well-founded, cited and verifiable approaches.

However, if you are looking for the last percentage point of excess return, you have come to the wrong place. As the title suggests, Jessica Schwarzer is a supporter of the passive investor faction. Here again, she stands out from the crowd by also presenting the small but fine levers with which the passive investor can optimize his risk-return ratio.

In this book, the author uses clear and practical examples to show how a successful investment strategy can also be implemented by "normal" people - without financial studies. For those of us who would like a little more background knowledge, she also explains the different types of investments such as shares, share funds, certificates, bonds and mortgage bonds on the basis of the different risk appetites of investors. In addition, this author is also known for disclosing her literature sources, which makes for further reading fun.

This book is in my opinion super suitable for the entry into the subject of the stock market. Not only in terms of content, but also in terms of language, it is once again very well structured and understandable and can help especially those people in their retirement planning who have not yet done anything or have relied on their even so competent financial advisors or bankers.

A woman is sitting on a couch, smiling and reading a book in a cozy room with a coffee cup and snacks on the table next to her.

However, investors who have been active in the stock market for several years will not find much new in this work. Nevertheless, this book might wake up one or the other who still believes that the return on passive income - especially considering the leverage of "active income" for younger people - is more important than building one's career. This is a point that I have yet to read any other author make as explicitly as Jessica Schwarzer, and I appreciate that about her. Because it should be clear to everyone that 5% return on a savings rate of 1,000 EUR is better than 7% on a savings rate of 500 EUR.

Of course, this book also begins by pointing out the shortcomings of German savers. German savers shy away from risk and instead prefer to invest at zero interest rates. If they do dare to take a step further out of the door, it is usually complicated and expensive products through supposed advisors - whether they come from banks, insurance companies or financial product distributors. These papers are bought then ignorantly and blue-eyed. The author describes a more relaxed and, above all, clever way of investing capital, taking everyone along with her in her warm and cordial way.

I can only recommend this book to every newcomer and also for all others it is revealed that the all-too-familiar MSCI World may also have a few related neighbors, such as the MSCI World Quality or the like. Maybe it also makes sense to have a look at them.
