DAX weekly outlook: Trump's policy unsettles - NVIDIA also in focus here in Germany

The uncertainty surrounding Trump's announcements on policy and the Fed is likely to continue to occupy investors in Germany. Doubts about the independence of the US Federal Reserve could create potential for pressure. In addition to numerous economic data on both sides of the Atlantic, the eagerly awaited quarterly figures from NVIDIA in particular are likely to cast a shadow.

Uncertainty over Fed Governor Lisa Cook - Investors question the independence of the US Federal Reserve

US President Donald Trump recently announced on his Truth Social platform that Fed Governor Lisa Cook would be dismissed from her position with immediate effect. The reason given by Trump was that there were reasons to believe that she had made untrue statements in one or more mortgage contracts. "Her behavior demonstrates gross negligence in financial transactions, which calls into question her competence and trustworthiness as a financial supervisor," Trump said.
Cook, on the other hand, said that Trump had no authority to fire her.

Tariff dispute with China could flare up again - Trump again threatens tariffs against the People's Republic

The smouldering tariff dispute could also regain momentum. Trump had threatened China with punitive tariffs of up to 200 percent if the People's Republic did not reliably supply the United States with rare earth magnets. "We have a much more powerful tool, which is tariffs. If we impose 100 percent, 200 percent tariffs, then we would no longer trade with China at all," said Trump.

The core personal consumption expenditures rate in the United States is expected at 14:30, which could send monetary policy hints accordingly.

Last but not least, from 16:00 the focus will be on consumer confidence from the University of Michigan, which will round off the trading week.

NVIDIA quarterly figures could decide the weal and woe of the company

After the close of the US stock market today, investors on both sides of the Atlantic are likely to turn their attention to the results of the past financial quarter of AI chip manufacturer NVIDIA (ISIN: US67066G1040). The outlook that has been announced could potentially be of great importance.
