THE COOPERATION BETWEEN FOM AND CAPTRADER
The Düsseldorf-based online broker CapTrader and FOM are official partners in an innovative program of continuing education on the stock market. The cooperation enables students in the "Finance & Banking" (B.A.), to acquire know-how in the practical implementation of stock market strategies and the execution of securities transactions in addition to theoretical knowledge about securities trading on the capital market. For this purpose, the Düsseldorf broker provides FOM with a PaperTrading platform.
FOM students can open virtual accounts at CapTrader, giving them access to over 1.2 million securities on more than 125 exchanges, in more than 30 countries and in over 22 currencies. The extensive offering allows students to select their preferred trading products and test trading strategies under real conditions with fictitious capital. In addition to the trading infrastructure, CapTrader also offers videos, FAQs and tutorials for the stock market simulation, which provide an introduction to the system and the technical infrastructure. In addition, CapTrader provides special support to FOM teachers and students: If they have specific questions, they can contact the CapTrader staff.
From the winter semester 2023, the stock market simulation will also be integrated as a fixed module in the first semester of the "Finance & Banking" (B.A.) degree program. In addition to the intensive examination of the topic as part of the module, the focus of the study program will continue to be on a continuous learning process. Access to the PaperTrading platform therefore remains active throughout the entire course of study until completion of the standard period of study (7 semesters) and enables students to try out new knowledge in practice and reflect on it in the theory-practice transfer of the colloquium.
