Investors both on and off the Atlantic may already be eagerly anticipating the interest rate meetings of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank scheduled for next week. At the same time, the reporting season here in Germany and in the United States could also send important signals.

DAX

Notenbank meetings are likely to set the pace

On Wednesday, investors„ focus is particularly on the US Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate meeting. The key interest rate decision is expected for 19:00, and the FOMC press conference with Kevin Warsh for 19:30. The “Fed-Watch Tool” from the CME Group now indicates that 91.7 percent of market participants expect a pause in interest rates, while only 8.3 percent expect a pause in interest rates.

Thursday is also expected to be very much focused on monetary policy. The European Central Bank (ECB) will announce its key interest rate at 14:15. At 14:45, the press conference with ECB President Christine Lagarde will follow.

On Friday, the release of some data on gross domestic product is expected to trigger important impulses. The GDP growth rate for the Federal Republic of Germany (10:00 a.m.) and for the Eurozone (11:00 a.m.) is expected.

The preliminary inflation data in Germany are expected to provide important impetus as well.
