The markets are balancing between hopes for peace, corporate earnings, and monetary policy signals from central banks. Following the record-breaking streak, investors are in a fact-checking phase, examining what the latest highs are truly worth. The market is currently clinging to any signal that points to a diplomatic solution between Washington and Tehran. Even though the air on the Frankfurt stock exchange floor is now gradually getting thinner, the prospect of further record levels has obviously whetted the appetite for more. The recent signals of easing tensions in the Iran war should not obscure the fact that the overall situation in the Middle East remains fragile.

US labor market data in focus on Friday - monetary policy stimulus conceivable

On Friday afternoon, the US labor market data (Non-Farm Payrolls) are on the agenda in particular (2:30 PM), which could generate monetary policy impulses. At the same time, attention is also likely to focus on the unemployment rate as well as the development of average hourly earnings.

Economists expect significant job growth compared to the previous month

Economists expect non-farm payroll gains of 80,000, following a total of 57,000 new jobs created in June. The separately calculated unemployment rate could stand at 4.2 percent, leaving it unchanged from the previous month.

„Fed-Watch-Tool“: More than half of market participants expect interest rate hike at September meeting

According to the CME Group's FedWatch Tool, the probability of another rate pause at the next scheduled meeting of the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, on September 16 is 47.1 percent. In contrast, 52.9 percent expect a total rate hike of a quarter of a percentage point. The interest rate band itself currently stands at 3.50 to 3.75 percent.

Tomorrow after the US market close, US investors are likely to focus on the results of the past fiscal quarter from Berkshire Hathaway (Class B share: US0846707026). For the first quarter of the year, Berkshire Hathaway had reported revenue of approximately 93.68 billion US dollars, compared to 89.725 billion US dollars in the same period of the previous year.

The earnings per Class A share (ISIN: US0846701086) came in at $7,027, compared to $3,200 previously. For the Class B share, a profit of $4.68 was reported (previously: $2.13).
