US weekly outlook: Powell and Trump in focus - IMF meets

In addition to the ongoing trade disputes, Donald Trump's recent criticism of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is likely to remain a topic of conversation in the coming days. The US President had accused Powell of "always reacting too late and incorrectly".
Occasionally, important US economic data awaits investors, which must be analyzed for economic indicators. The current reporting season could also provide impetus.

Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) begins

The spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank also begin today in Washington. Investors are likely to be waiting for new forecasts for the further development of the global economy. The meeting itself will continue until Saturday. Numerous representatives from the business world are expected to attend.

From the perspective of the economic calendar, the trading week after Easter should be comparatively more relaxed.

"Beige Book" to be published on Wednesday - focus on new orders for durable goods on Thursday

In the middle of the week, investors can look forward to the first purchasing managers' estimates (S&P Global) for the manufacturing, services and total sectors at 15:45. The so-called "Beige Book" (20:00), which could provide important information on the current state of the US economy, is also likely to provide impetus.

On Thursday, new figures on new orders for durable goods will come into focus (14:30). As these data are usually associated with higher spending, they could provide important clues about the activity of the US economy.

Friday will be rounded off by new data on consumer confidence (University of Michigan) at 16:00.

Reporting season picks up momentum with Tesla and Alphabet

Market players will be focusing on the figures of e-car manufacturer Tesla on Tuesday. Alphabet and Intel will report on Thursday.
