Retail managers and the US midterm elections are expected to provide important impetus

The economic data calendar promises potential triggers on Monday with the ISM Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector (15:00).

Investors should prepare for the possibility of increased volatility on the night from Monday to Tuesday due to the midterm elections in the USA. The results could have corresponding effects on the financial markets.

JOLT and ADP data could provide a first taste of the official US labor market data

On Tuesday afternoon, the so-called JOLTs job openings will follow, which, like the ADP employment data (14:15) on Wednesday, are expected to provide initial clues about the NFPs.

On Wednesday, the counterpart to the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the services sector will be released (15:00).

The US labor market data are expected to decide the fate of the stock market on Friday (14:30). The development of the unemployment rate and the average hourly wage are also of note.

New data on preliminary consumer sentiment from the University of Michigan could also provide important impetus.
