Investors' eyes are likely to be focused on the US reporting season that is about to begin.

A busy trading floor with people working at computer stations and large electronic stock exchange boards displaying data overhead, including the latest figures for the DAX weekly outlook.

Between monetary policy questions, Middle East risks and AI doubts, it will be revealed in the coming week how resilient investors’ willingness to take risks really is. Moreover, investors are likely to be processing the aftermath of recent inflation data. The interest rate concerns that have long been suppressed could strike again at any moment. At the same time, there is growing concern that the US central bank could lose its balance between fighting inflation and supporting growth.
Bullish and bearish sentiment are likely to continue to dominate the market and shape the stock market. The corporate results from the other side of the Atlantic could briefly become the most important factor influencing the stock markets in the short term.

China data in focus at the start of the week – possible guidelines for Monday trading

In a relatively manageable economic data calendar, investors can already look forward to a wealth of Chinese economic data (04:00 a.m.) on the night from Sunday to Monday. New data on GDP growth rate, industrial production and retail sales are expected.

ZEW index released on Tuesday – Initial applications for U.S. unemployment benefits could send monetary policy signals on Thursday

On Tuesday, attention will likely turn to the ZEW economic expectations in Germany, which could provide important impulses (11:00 a.m.).

While Wednesday is expected to bring fewer potential triggers, on Thursday there could be signals from the first applications for U.S. unemployment benefits (14:30) as well as from consumer confidence for the Eurozone.

Retail managers across the Atlantic and beyond on Friday in focus

Friday is likely to be all about the publication of new purchasing managers’ indices. For the Federal Republic of Germany, the aforementioned indices for the manufacturing, services and overall sectors will be of interest (09:30). The counterparts for the Eurozone (10:00) and the USA (15:45) are also expected to send out important signals.

Netflix, SpaceX and Meta present figures

However, the ongoing reporting season in the US should be in focus. On Tuesday, for example, figures from Netflix’s (ISIN: US64110L1061) and SpaceX’s (ISIN: US84615Q1031) last financial quarter are expected. On Wednesday, Meta (ISIN: US30303M1027) and Tesla (ISIN: US88160R1014) will report, and on Friday American Express (ISIN: US0258161092).
