The performance report is prepared for one Calendar year is prepared. It summarizes the transactions from 01.01. to 31.12. of a year and presents the realized profit and loss situation in euros.
Depending on the account history, there may also be reports for previous years, provided the database is complete and it is technically possible to create them.
When will the report be available?
Update: The performance report for 2025 is now available via CT-PLUS available.
The report is usually generated after the end of the calendar year, as soon as all necessary trading and account data has been received and processed by Interactive Brokers. The exact time depends on the completion of the data provision by IB as well as on internal processing procedures at CapTrader.
Typically, the performance report at the beginning of the 2nd quarter after the respective tax year. Specific time windows or any delays will - where possible - be announced via the usual communication channels (website, newsletter, support notices).
Where can I find my performance report?
The performance report will generally be sent to you via CapTrader PLUS provided.
There, you will normally find the performance reports for 2023 to 2025.
If you only switched to CapTrader in the course of 2025 or cannot find a performance report on CT-PLUS for other reasons (e.g. as a corporate client), please send us an email to the CapTrader support. If possible, we will then send you a performance report.
Please state in the e-mail:
- The year for which you would like to receive the performance report
- Your account number(s), several if necessary
- Jurisdiction, if you do not wish to receive a German report
What versions of the performance report are available?
Depending on the tax allocation of your account („Jurisdiction"), different report variants are available:
Germany (DE):
- Calculation according to FIFO method (First In - First Out)
- Categories are roughly based on typical German tax categories (e.g. shares, forward transactions, dividends, interest, withholding taxes)
Austria (AT):
- Calculation using the average method (average rate method)
- Option transactions are shown uniformly under „OPT"; the separate „Premium" category is no longer used
International customers:
- In many cases, two variants are available: a report using the FIFO method and a report using the average method (Avg)
- This allows the customer to choose the variant that makes more sense for their own documentation
Can I receive reports for previous years?
Whether reports can be created retroactively for several years depends on this:
- whether the underlying transaction data is still complete,
- whether the report creation for the respective period is technically supported.
Reports for the years from 2022 onwards are generally available.
What should I check before I use the report?
Before you use the performance report in your own documentation or discuss it with your tax advisor, we recommend a short checklist:
- Is the period under consideration correct? - Check whether the report covers the desired calendar year.
- Is the assignment (jurisdiction) correct? - Make sure that you are using the correct version (DE, AT or International) and the correct method (FIFO/Avg).
- Plausibility check of the totals - Does the sum of the categories give a picture that matches your memory and your trading volume?
- Comparison with individual transactions (optional) - For spot checks, you can track individual trades using the IB account statement and historical exchange rates.
- Discussion with your tax advisor - If you have any questions about the tax classification of the figures, you should go through the report together with your tax advisor.
