As a rule, you are classified as a private customer at CapTrader as a so-called retail customer. Within this framework, you are entitled to the highest regulatory protection, in return for which certain securities are unfortunately not tradable for you.
If you believe that you qualify to be classified as a Professional Client, you may submit an application to be classified as a Professional Client. Professional customers are subject to less regulatory protection than retail customers, but they can trade more investment products than retail customers (or they can trade certain products with fewer protection restrictions than retail customers). If IB confirms your request, you will be classified as a Professional customer in general, not just for specific products.
If you want to be classified as a Professional customer, please click on the path > Settings > Account settings > MIFID customer category in your account management (Client Portal).
Based on the information you provide in the questionnaire there, Interactive Brokers will either reject or approve your request.
